We support your quest for mileage heaven Recently i watched a video on top gear .. they took a toyota prius and a BMW M3 where the toyota go as fast as it could but the m3 just have to keep up .. in the end.. the prius did 17km/l while the m3 did 19km/l Even Jeremy Clarkson said it.. its not how good the car is.. is how you drive your car ;D Here is the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKTOyiKLARk

Bro Loudness and Fit,
I have a few questions pertaining the surbo for both of you since you are the only ones that have made the installation and drive with the installation:
1) Does the engine reached the redline easier with the installation. Meaning, upon stepping onto the accer, it will be able to rev at a higher rpm giving the car more torque on the lower gear.
2) Does the installation increase the idling noise level for the engine?
3) Is there any impact on the driving of the car on the higher gear.
4) I applied a step-release-step technique to accelerate my car as i deem that it make better use of the air suction and momentum while using less fuel. How does the surbo activate? Is it similar to my technique.
Bro Fit,
5) We are using the same open pod air filter. Is he using sillicon to seal all your open pod joints. What your overall rating on the system.

1) Yes i do find it revs to redline faster but only after 3500 rpm. If you are not the type who like to rev you may not like it. I don't feel comfortable doing it neither are the passengers.
2) Nope no difference in idling noise. Its quieter due to no air leaks thus no hissing sound.
3) Driving on higher gear is the same as before
4) It is similar to your technique. Read up the surbo site. Frankly I find it difficult to activate. Can't tell when its activated. All by butt feel. Maybe its placebo for all i Know!
5) Yup he uses silicone sealant and seals all the joints. Very neat and tidy and sparingly.. There were complaints where they say he made a mess but not the case for me.

Thanks. I got the idea now. I doubt surbo will suit me as i seldom rev past 3k let alone 3.5K.. :-)
I believe there is some truth in increasing the torque in its high rpm range.

For me I am quite insensitive to mods. Usually the first time i drive the car after installing a new device I would feel that there is the difference. But the next few drives the difference is no longer there so I am beginning to think that its just me thinking that there is an improvement or i am getting used to the improvement and not noticing it anymore.
For the Surbo I believe that it works. Don't take my review only.. I have yet to do fuel economy comparisons. According to Surbo it should work at all rpm to a certain extent and thus improve fuel economy.
Let's hear it from bro Loudness deduction of the Surbo.. he has better luck with it. And has results to prove it.
For our CAI setup, Heng says its the best setup yet. The setup allows the Surbo to be installed directly before the carb which is the most effective position.

Wow,open computer,got QnA already.
Bro Fit practically answered for me.Salutations.
Heres a bit more on my take on the Surbo. 2)The engine's more quieter than before,to the point that I can hear the fuel injectors "ticking" very clearly.
5)No mess, no fuss, no sweat,no problem.
And.........................yes I have results. The results only work for me because I based the calculations on the style I drive my 1.1 litre. If I drive a 1.3 and based on someone else's driving style the results will be different.
So each of us has our own driving style. It's up to us where we want to put fuel economy or performance or both on our "want" list.
Lastly, use the Surbo on uphills. The "surge" is.............................is................................is..............................unexplainable. Just try it lah.

Bro loudness, i am curious as to what your footwork is like in such uphill climbs to get that "surge"..
I am still learning. Need some pointers.
Thanks!

How lucky some of us are to actually have long weekends. I have lost touch of long weekends and probably would never know the meaning of it.
The footwork is basically the same pump pump action when activating it. My stress point is no two cars are alike and no two drivers are alike. I've got my car's sweet spot from when its unmodified. From there its mostly fine tuning to activate. Your car has a different sweet spot ,so be patient and keep tuning.Just get the feel for it.You'll get there.
Some examples of what I did. Vivocity incline to upper storey carparks.First gear with feet off the pedals. Before that it usually stalls. Shears from Rochor(Quite steep incline)Speed up to 2700rpm @ forth gear while activating Surbo.Lots of down shifting before that and even sputtered while halfway up.
All done with people and groceries at the back.

Done everything except the scangauge and spare tyre thingy. I'm not so sure about the acetone. These will peel of the pain of the car if it got spilled. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHAUsGlfbx8

I learn something new everyday.. But is that acetone trick safe since its quite corrosive..
MXtradings sells the scangauge 2 for $298. Can it fit our vehicle though?

Passed by my daughter's school many times ,but didn't noticed that there is a banner on how to recycle used cooking oil.
Instead of throwing it away down the sewer like most people would ,recycling it to turn it into something useful. Biodiesel. Send your used oil to a collection center where someone will collect it and "process" it become biodiesel.Thats what the banner said.
The "process" is just filtration.
Who will benefit?Definitely not us "The Petrol Heads" Come to think of it,if there was a diesel version of the Minz ,I would gladly "feed" if my leftover cooking oil.Fuel savings there.God knows how much oil I fed my forklift with cooking oil. The exhaust smells like KFC.

Cooking oil is of very low grade ,that it will instantaneously vapourise due to high heat ranges in the combustion chamber.
Bio oils are "further chemically refined" stuff from corn, soy, wheat, peanuts, sugarcane and other farming commodities. They are expensive because these stuff that are meant for human consumption ,are now running the "engines" of the world. BUT it will lessen the burden on consuming ordinary fuel.

Had a simple water injection setup ,hooked up to the air intake. No water is actually being sucked.Just the very humid air from a water bubbler. So far results are comimg but no significant ones. E.g. - less smoke during start up.Revs are "anxious to please" and a wee bit "willing". Milage counts and fuel usage are still on going.
Btw,had it assembled and hooked up before incamp training.Won't be expecting results in the near future. But will post results how minor or major.
