Man thats weird... it works at the workshop yet when you bring it back it doesnt.
My meaning of "service" is not repairs or rectifications but rather servicing as in oil change, filter change as required according to mileage. Because I saw ads in the magazines whereby they offer a package which includes checking of a list of items including engine oil, air filter. spark plugs etc...
I just send them in to rectify the screeching mainly and the other nitty gritty stuff like the loose aircon vent, bubbles in my solar film, steering alignment and checking the aircon as smoke tends to get in the cabin thru the aircon.
Supposed to collect today. But the contractor installing the solar film can only come tomorrow.

You wouldn't believe what happened today... As you know I am supposed to collect my car today. I called them in the morning to ask the mechanic to check my handbrake as well since the car is still being worked on. They said they will ask the service advisor to call me back. Waited and waited till 4+pm and still no call. Ended up calling them up. They say I can collect it. So I went down close to 7pm with my friends as we wanted to go out after collecting the car. To my horror the keys wasn't passed to the showroom! At first I thought nevermind not a problem as I brought my spare key. But then the guy there says he can't release the car since he has no authorization or instruction from the service side. So he ended up calling his manager or something and I ended up talking to the manager. He explained that he can't allow me to take the car as the service side didn't hand over the invoice and the keys and incase I have to pay for the servicing. He says next time I have to inform them that I am coming after 5.30 otherwise they won't pass the keys to the showroom side. I understand his concern but the thing is I have proof that I was the owner and I have the car keys and the car is right in front of me and yet they dont allow me to drive off my own car!! It was so frustrating... i was rushing there all sweaty and stuff with my friends and there I stand in front of my car with my keys yet I can't drive it off! IMO, common sense would tell them that the keys be passed to the showroom side since its a wknd car and I can only leave at 7pm. I don't think anyone would come at 5.30 only to wait for 1.5 hrs there before leaving. I mean there's no harm in making it a habit to pass the keys to the showroom after servicing especially for wknd cars so that ppl can still collect their cars after the service side is closed. The showroom is the only side where there is always someone staying back till about 7pm. Furthermore not many would be able to come there by 530pm since they are working. Sigh... if only they practiced more common sense Sorry just had to let off some steam....

Well Fit, here is an advice for you...dont ever expect to call you..lesson no.1 ...call them..i always do that..check with the main guy when calling about ur car, the receptionist know nothing..I think the fellow in charge now is Mr John so look for him..
about your keys..whenever servicing is done, tell Mr John to put ur key in the glove compartment and just collect ur car anytime..the gate will only close abt 10pm,even then it can still be open as its not locked..
last week,my car was parked and it wasnt even locked, thk god nothing got stolen..and that is what i always do, tell service site to put my key inside the car and i will just collect it with my spare key..good luck!
I am collecting my car tmr after 3rd servicing, they took 2 days so hopefully all will be fine and they sure are busy today when i came..hahaha..John was cursing lots of cars... ;D

The best part was they did just that... they placed my keys in the car in the ash tray the day when i wasn't allowed to take the car back! They only told me when i called the next day to tell them what happened..
Anyways... after all that trouble the car was the same. Its like they did nothing.. The screeching sound is still there.. I bet they didn't even bother to drive the car to hear the sound that I was referring to nor did they even test the car out after servicing to see if there is any weird sounds.
So this Sat I am sending the car in again. Going to wait there and will take a ride around with the mechanic so that he can hear the sound I am referring to. First time going to Chery side for servicing.

I think i just discovered a new problem with my MinZ... Argh.... At times when I turn the key to start the car, the car won't start. There's just a split second where the motor turned and the radio would turn off like as if the power has been cut out.
At first the problem only reared its head once in a while. But just now it took 3 tries before the motor turned the engine over and started it. It happened on two separate starts. I had to turn the key to off and turn it back on and then it will start.
Weird... I am thinking its either the battery or the starter motor or some other electrical fault. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Good day Bro Fit,
Previously I faced similiar problems as you & there is a burning smell. Later the next morning; the power suddenly went off while driving & totally cannot start at up.
Had to call tow truck & the mechanic later told me the fuse box melter because the box cannot take the heat. They replaced the fuse box with a one that can take the heat.
I think you better bring your car to the service center.
regards.

well after my 3rd servicing, my boot door started creaking very loud..
so nothing much you can do but just tell them to take their time to do the job and repairs..and don't be surprise if there are still problems after service as its never perfect..

Thanks for chimng in.. I will check for burning smell. Have not noticed any smell yet. I hope my car don't die while on the move.. Now its getting harder and harder to start. Everytime I switch off the engine, I worry that it won't come back to life on the next start. I believe the battery is weak. There are a few reasons why i think its the battery: Firstly I can hear the starter motor trying to turn over the engine. Sometimes it gets 1 revolution and stop. At times it gets one revolution, stalls and starts turning the engine again and start the engine up. But the starter sounds weak.. Not spinning as quickly as it should. Secondly, whenever the aircon engages, the lights dims noticeably. I believe this should not be the case? Anyone has advice regarding this? Last night more problems cropped up.. mine is getting more problems as time goes by! After start up, the digital gauges went blank and the speedo stopped working. I also noticed my signal lights blinks quickly before it starts blinking at the proper rate. Thank god I have made an appointment for servicing later today. Hope it can get resolved! Wish me luck guys!! Good day Bro Fit, Previously I faced similiar problems as you & there is a burning smell. Hmm, the lights dimming when the aircon restart is a common problem, i have been getting that since day one, and the speedo meter will just drop to zero, apparently its a electrical problem. But the mechanics there insist that its speedometer problem and they changed my whole speedometer. So my current speedometer wont "die" when aircon restarts. But still the lights will dim and u can feel that the car will just get a short lost of power. Been thinking if we install a voltage stablizer, will it work? Anyway, my boot door creaking is probably the lack of lubricants.

The mechanics says that its the starter motor problem. And because of this the speedometer was also affected.. (which i doubt is related). But unfortunately, they did not have the spares at Chery I was offered 2 options. One was to leave the car there and they will send it to Hafei. Or secondly I can come on Monday and get it done. They offered to refund my OPC coupon too. :)Since the car still can start, I chose the second option. I agree lostheaven I don't think its anything mechanical for the speedo but rather electrical. The same goes to my indicator lights blinking quickly out of the blue and for the speedo to blank out on me. So far the indicators and speedo problem has not repeated itself. It just happened once. About the boot, try wd40 or some light oil and see if it helps..

go change the meter , make sure they give you the right one , they put a 1.1 meter into my 1.3 and the speed reading was wrong , I can travel at 5th gear but speedo only show 55 . my GPS also comfirmed the sppedo reading was wrong . after putting the right meter in , the aircon restart no longer messed up the speedo .
