Hi Guys, here are some pictures of my 1.3L Hafei MinZ. Will try to make this thread into a log book of my MinZ. Collected on 1st May 2008. Upon checking the car found out that the remote locking doesnt fully unlock the left side sliding door. Have to manually pull out the last bit to fully unlock. 2nd Day: Found out that the video is intermittent when the engine is running. But works on the first try in the morning before engine starts. Next the seatbelt casing of driver seat came apart. And finally at the end of the day, reverse was hard to engage. Went to service center on Friday, fixed the DVD and seat belts for good but the remote lock and reverse fixes didnt last the day. At the end of the day, the lock went back to square one and the reverse was hard to engage again. The DVD was due to the grouding wire coming off. Other than these minor details.. the rest of the car works fine. Enjoy the pics!

nice colour..and i think rims are nicer then the 13inch that i got..for the problems that you face, well i got nothing much to say..i've been going to the workshop at least once or twice every two months..i've yet to send my minz to the workshop for repairs as its very troublesome especially with an off-peak vehicle..

Thanks, initially wanted the blue but on second thought the grey is better as it hides dirt and scratches better. The 14" rims are definitely and improvement over the Hafei originals. In addition they made the steering lighter and ease parking.
Once to twice every 2 months.. What are the problems that you face that make you come back that often?
Agreed.. OPC car only given 3 slots every 1st and 3rd Sat each month so its tough to get a slot. I sent mine back on Friday as I expected that Sats wont have an empty slot. I waited 2 hrs for them to finish rectifying the faults on Friday.

Oh my... seems like some dont have much problems wherelse there are those plagued with problems. I guess its a QC issue..
That bad huh... I can see what you mean.. They seem to have fixed the problem but before long you are back at where you started. Furthermore you weekend burned from waiting for the car to be serviced.
I agree... always notice lots of guests viewing but no one else seems to be posting.. Come on guys.. Let's share! Previously in the yahoo groups I see lots of members... but here its pretty quiet...

well so just to share with u guys. i had soundproof my hafei. Decided to go ahead with soundproof, eventhough need to cough up few hundreds. Really cannot tahan with internal/external sound, which i had to bear for traveling long distance.
After installing the floorplan and doors. i found changes while driving. Especialy when stopping beside buses or heavy vehicles. (est 70% improvement). But for the front, sound created from aircon still can be heard.
The aircon sound become loud, that come after my 1st servicing. Hmmmm.maybe tighten too tight/loose. i think maybe. Did not go for upgrading my aircon after feedbacks from u guys.
May one day when there is another gathering organise, i will be there to show u guy'

Hi Dann, Nice... I was thinking of sound proofing too. Mind sharing how much exactly you fork out for the soundproofing and which shop did you did it at? What exactly did they add or do for the soundproofing? I agree after a while you can get fatigued from the constant hum of the engine. So now the car is silent during idle and the engine is non intrusive when running? well so just to share with u guys. i had soundproof my hafei. Yeah good to share and see what others are doing to personalize their rides Thanks lostheaven... Hafei gave two different styles of 14" sports rims to choose from. One is a silver one and the other is the gun metal grey one that I have. I believe this is the only forum for Hafei lei... haha.. Even then i can't find it when i do a search on yahoo. Anyways, as I mentioned in the other post, i have just upgraded the speakers on my Hafei. The factory ones just had to go for me and my dad.. The factory speakers are puny...a mere 4" and they look like they belong to a PC speaker. The front speakers are component speakers with separate tweeters on the dash while the back are coaxials 6.5" two way speakers. The sound is miles better now and there is bass! The front speakers are mounted on the lower part of the door. A speaker board was fabricated to house the speakers. The back ones are in the factory location and screwed directly to the car's body. In the process, I also soundproofed the front doors to improve the acoustics and also dampen the vibrations from the speaker. The back need to be soundproofed later too because when the volume is blasted, the body panels are moving in and out with the bass and accompanied by rattling of the body panel! Will snap some pictures of my speaker setup when i got the time

I paid a total of $400 for the speakers including labour and installation. Initially wanted to install an amp and a subwoofer but its out of my budget! It would cost $1k for the full setup with subwoofer. But that would be a really nice setup.. Hmm.. I just noticed that my rattling seem to come from the railing on the rear panel which the sliding door slides on. They charged me $65 per door. The front doors now no longer sound hollow when you knock them. Huge difference when you knock on the front door compared to the sliding door thats not sound proofed.. Oh yeah.. I managed to get some pics of my speaker setup! Here they are:

You should change the speakers. Its a good investment for driving pleasure hehe... Furthermore it doesnt sap you of any petrol and you can transfer the speakers to another car in the future.
Good to hear that $65 per door is decent. Because I am also not sure what prices are like for sound proofing. I did the speakers and soundproofing at Far East Auto. You can drop by and enquire first. They do it on the spot... takes a couple of hours. Friendly staff, good service and for OPC cars, can drop the car in the evening after 7pm and collect it the next day in the evening.
Oh... that sucks... frustrating... its like as if the complaints fell upon deaf ears.. Is the radio a newly acquired problem?
Speaking of service, where do i drop the keys if I want to drop my car overnight for service the next day? Perhaps, If you are there in person waiting, they would do a proper job of addressing your problems?

For my car, still no problem with the aircons, went down to hafei the other day to fix my faulty interior lights and also wiper problem, the staff there looks free to me, still got time to watch movies in the waiting area xD
So bro, you bought the speakers at far east auto too? And did u changed the radio with the speakers too?
