I usually just tell the pump attendent to fill it .. but sometimes i nv do trust the fuel gauges as it wont update itself unless i switch off and restart it..

i did the same but it doesnt go full so what i do is top up auto till it stops then manually pump till its really full and i can get only abt 300km + - before 2 red bars..
reason they say is the technology is poor so there is alot of gas inside thus preventing really full top up..

Another update
Filled full tank of Caltex 95 on Sat (28th). First time on Caltex. I got 8.88Km/L.
I have read that Caltex doesn't give good mileage. But then again over the weekend I travelled a lot with 3- 6 adults most of the time. Covered 200+KM over the weekend!
- Return trip btw Bedok to Ghim Moh with 3 adults - Bedok to tamp then to orchard with 2 adults.
6 Adults - return trip btw bedok and bedok corner - return trip btw bedok and Orchard - return trip btw bedok to Little india
4 adults - from orchard to CCK and back to bedok
By Sunday night, down to 4 bars. Was already 11pm and rushed to the nearest Shell station in the hopes of taking advantage of the V-power promotion. Lucky still on promotion. So the current tank is on V-power! Will see if I get better mileage with it. Will update on my next fill up.

Yeah I noticed this too... If you let it auto fill it will stop prematurely. I think the main reason is that the fuelling neck is too narrow. When the fuel flows, it foams up and the only way for the gas to escape is thru the narrow opening that is now blocked by the fuelling nozzle causing the pump to stop. I always tell the attendant to manually pump after the nozzle kicks. Pump till I can see the fuel at the end of the neck.

Hmm.. recently my mum who has been driving mostly said she achieve 14km/l. Hard to believe but its true as she keeps a logbook of the milleage before pumping a full tank. Petrol used is Esso 95

Wow.... 14km/L ! Thats as good as the new Honda Fit 08! Out of the different brands, coinicidentally I got my best of 10.7Km/L with Esso 95 as well.
Right now I have switched to Caltex Techron Silver (95) for 3 tanks. Consistently get about 9.5 - 9.6Km/L.
Right now still looking around for ways to improve consumption. Looking at Voltage stabiliser and spark booster and changing of the spark plugs to Iridiums..

14? ?wow thats awesome..i wouldnt say its as same as new fit as new fit, you would get 18 on average..my cousin using the 1.3 new fit ;D 14 maybe equal as lancer glx anyone here using shell power 92 or esso 2000?i think its acceptable since our hafei accepts anything above ron90..any comments?

My colleague only got 14.1 km/L on his 1.3 Fit 08 man...To clarify thats based on the "on the fly fuel consumption gauge" on the dash and not through calculation of petrol pumped and distance travelled

I think some of the bros here are using 92. Can try, see if can get improved consumption..
Anyways just an update on my fuel consumption. I got my best consumption so far of 11.6Km/L with Caltex 95.
This time I travelled from Bedok into ECP into West Coast Highway to and fro 3 times. I also turned off the aircon when I was going back from the gathering.
The aircon combined with a lot of Highway, 90km/h driving markedly improved my consumption form 9.6 to 11.6Km/L!
From now onwards, going to try to take the H'way as much as I can even though it maybe further but the improvement in consumption outweighs the extra few kms I have to travel to get into the highway. And also of course to just wind down the window when at night and in the morning.

interesting facts..i've stopped monitoring my fuel consumption..use to and i got an average of 10 without aircon and 8-9 with aircon..
does the brand of petrol matters?i've heard that caltex fuel is not as efficient as shell but i don't see the difference actually.

i wonder if my fuel consumption will be higher if i changed to 14" wheels? maybe mike should be monitoring his fuel too as he has the biggest wheels here. Currently averaging between 12-13km/l with esso 95.
One of the reason that my mum got 14km/l is probably that her workplace is not located in town where there are lots of traffic lights and neither is there much traffic lights from my house to the nearest highway. so can say that daily travel is about 80/20
