Hi
I must say that this is one of the best manual I have come across, very technically informative and including a lot of warnings or cautions. If the agent or mechanics can follow it and carried out the detailed procedures and schedules during servicing, we would have less problems.
I will digest some and share. Today I would like to share a few common problems:
[glow=red,2,300]Anticorrosion of vehicle (page 81)[/glow]
I highlight a few points which are more relevant in Singapore.
1) Accumulating salt, clay and humidity etc at uncommon parts in body and chasis;
scraped outer protecting paint layer caused by accident or chipped off by small flying stones ;
environment condition that accelating corrosion: salty air; industrial pollution zone; dust full of chemical substance; salt and alkaline on road.
2) The vehicles can be corroded quickly in relatively higher huminity zone (like those car park lots with grass pads in cement reinforced floor with holes, or under trees)
3) Some parts of the body rust easily because it is used in a damp zone for a longer time.
4) Some parts can be corroded quickly in poor ventilation and the [glow=red,2,300]accumulated moisture dry up too slowly [/glow]when the weather is again getting warmer.
The manual recommended that:
a) Clean the vehicle often
b) The vehicle should be parked at a spot where it is dry and in good ventilation. Don't park your vehicle at damp and stuffy garage.
My recommendatin:
a) Park at the covered MSCP and at higher levels if possible.
b) Avoid parking at grass pad filled parking lots for days.
c) Warm up the engine and drive a short distance daily if it is not used for long time.
d) Wash the car at car wash kiosk with high pressure sprays at least once a week or fortnightly. If DIY, rinse your car thoroughy and use proper car wash liquid; wash or whip away the bird droppings immediately when notice and still soft. Remove small dried leaves that dropped and stuck in the joint gaps of any external rubber seals or covers.
e) Get anti-rust treatment if you start to notice bad rust forming on your vehicle.
[glow=red,2,300]For worst rusted vehicle :[/glow]
f) Go for whole car respray including internal cabin's rusted metal sections and under seat metal frames; panel beating on dented sections and then rustproofing.
