All right guys I have driven my 1.3 MinZ for the past 2 days and clocking about 165KM. I pumped 98 petrol.
Consumed 19.64L of fuel for 165 km of driving. That amounts to a crazy 8.4KM/L consumption!!
Driving pattern is mostly urban. Early shifts and no more than 70km/h at any time. 1st and 2nd gear shifts at average of 2000-2500 RPMs. Driving conservatively with a light foot and easing off and coasting to red lights.
I am shocked at the bad fuel consumption. Could it be because the engine is running in causing the higher than normal consumption?

my dear friend..thats the average actually..i thought the 1.3l was better then 1.1 but i guess its the same..and no matter hw fast u go the consumption would be ard 8-10..i drive at 100 at times..i tried caltex 98 and it seems that the consumption is abit better but im nt sure hw accurate i am..besides that, i am going to jb more frequently to top up v power...save money..any feedback on ur aircon?on hot days, does ur rear aircon function?

I was expecting around 11 there abouts.. based on the first post. But 8 is very dissapointing to say the least. Well hoping that the consumption will improve a bit as it runs in.. BTW, is yours the 1.1 or 1.3L?
Do you get away with goin in JB with less than 3/4 fuel? Are they rigorous with checks with regards to the fuel gauge?
For my aircon.. so far it has not been left in the hot baking sun yet. When I park outside its been in the cooler evenings. So far no problems with my aircon.
BTW I took some pics of my MinZ, gonna try and post it in another thread.

hmmm..maybe it might get better as it runs in..mine is the 1.1..i still face the problems with aircon after upgrading..really frustrating..and i dont go to jb with an empty tank..at least half..i go in once in awhile when i really need to use, if nt i'll just top up in spore..

Update with the aircon... Yesterday the car was out in the hot afternoon sun for a couple of hours.. The rear aircon starts up right away. No problems with start up yet. Whats the problem that you are facing with yours?
One complaint is that i find that the aircon is cool but not cold. On hot days like now, I am still sweating.. the aircon is not as cold as compared to my friend's Altis set at 25C. How is you aircon in terms of its coldness?
Hmm seems like we should copy this post to the aircon thread too...

my problem is that my rear aircon does not start when i park my car on a hot day. i agree with you that the aircon is not cold. as i've mentioned way before, regretted paying 200+ for aircon 'upgrade'. sometimes i just wind down my window which is way better.
I called Hafei today looking for Eric but he was not there. told the receptionist to get him to call me. I received a call from someone else. a new fellow. I told him abt my aircon problems. will send the car on wed or thur nite.

Dear Fit,
It may be due to your engine running in and the constant moving off and stopping for urban driving. During my run in, the consumption is not good also at about 9 plus to 10km....
However, recently i managed to obtain about 12.68km/Litre for Shell 98 and 13.53km/Litre with the following:
1) Switch off the aircon and open up window when driving alone. 2) Get biting point when moving off and step gradually to about 2000 plus before shifting 2nd... 3) Drive at ard 70-80km/h and avoid abrupt stopping. 4) Reduce unneccessary load in vehicle. 5) Stepping control on accelerator.
For others. Pls also share experience.

Hi, Thanks for the tips. I really am hoping the consumption gets better with run in. Wow... 12+ KM/L thats more like it! I am now pumping 98 too.. I seldom drive alone. Usually at least 2 but average at 3 to 4 passengers. Will see how consumption fares as time goes by. Will update it here. Just to add to the figures... My consumption so far is averaging about a hair over 8km/l for 1.3 MinZ. This is driving in singapore. Hope it improves!

Update
Last 2 tanks there have been an improvement! ;D The 1st tank of Esso 95 got me 10.7Km/l. The following tank of Shell 95 got me 9.47 Km/L.
I no longer shift early but rather just step on it and let it rev more. The engine seems to drink less!

thats interesting...just wondering do u guys have to like pump slowly to ensure its really full coz when i auto pump it stops really quick and i can still pump alot more if i do it manually after it bounces back..
might switch to esso then since it seems that esso 95 provides more mileage compared to shell 95..caltex also another option
