I was told that what I was paying for was a very basic car. The first day I collected my car was as you say unexpected. I got alloys, central locking with remote, car alarm with remote,Kenwood stereo with remote......with 4 small Xplod speakers plus extra wiring for subwoofer(subs not included)..........I wish it was. Driving it.......... Heavy on the steering.Front heavy, light and bouncy in the rear(maybe cuz of the leaf springs or my daughter jumping about with excitement) Engine.......... Eager to rev.All fuse boxes now inthe front.A single 5mm braided wire connecting engine to chasis.Definitely needs more grounding and voltage stabilization.Paper air filter won't last long.Might change to K&N wash and wear.Savings in the long run. Body of evidence................ Doors need greasing.Lots of friction especially the side doors.Needs to slam hard to shut it.Gear shift is notchy but all gears engage seamlessly.Braking a little on the "too sensitive"side.New brakes I guess.Stereo is good considering the small speakers. With bass on "medium",can very well feel it. Immediate remedies.................. Pumped up the tyres.Heavy steering lessen dramatically.Grease all joints and hinges. No effort closing the doors.Get rid of the "baked potato"smell in the interior. Future mission.......... Beef up the electricals, groundings and VS.Change air filter.Add vacuum gauge for fuel economy purposes.Install water injection from my hijet so no need to use expensive fuel.Apply what I learned to save more fuel. Thats all for now.Catch all of you later.

Ok.. For what we can tell u is.. You got a good deal with the speakers.. ours is just basic speakers even though my package was the "luxury" (maybe cause first batch of 1.3 MinZ)
Driving wise can say that the gear would be a bit hard to engage in the beginning...
Engine, u might have to rev more to just move off and its a good thing they change the fuse boxes to the front.. our old model fuses were beside the battery under the seat and tend to melt easily causing a major malfunction. A few of us, including me already fuse melt and broke down in the middle of the road.
Filter-wise, we have already approched McWell and a few shops selling K&N filter and sadly, they dont have the size for our MinZ for the drop-in type.
And yea, the electrical sucks, more grounding is needed but VS is not recommended... thats what some of us here has researched...
BTW, they gave u the 14" sports rim or the 13" ones? If there is time meet up with us to discuss more ^^

wow that seems nice with them giving u the speakers..
the rear is bouncy as the rear suspension is same as what lorries has thus the bounce..
for ur tyres hw much do u pump?210?
and im topping up power92 nowadays..seems to be ok..hafei used to ask me to use power98..
for the fuse boxes, can we get hafei to change ours to the front?

Nice... Its always good to be surprised in a good way!
No wonder I noticed that they have boxes of Kenwood Head Units while i was at the svc ctr yesterday. The speakers seems nice! Like what lostheaven mentioned, ours came with crappy speakers. Did you get a DVD screen as well?
Nice little review you have here. You seem to know your way around the car man..
The gears on mine are notchy as well. But only on 1st and 2nd. But 3rd, 4th and 5th are smooth. Reverse is difficult to engage too.
Lets look some more for a replacement for the stock filter.. I still have faith that we can get something that fits!
I also thinking of doing grounding and the heatshield as well. Probably next pay day!
With regards to VS, initially me and lostheaven tot of installing, but after some reading decided not to.
BTW, how does the vacuum gauge and water injection helps with economy? Sounds interesting!
Sadiq, i wonder if they can do that for us too. After lostheaven's fuse melted I also kinda worried!

Just came home from work.Very tired.Saw my wife and kid,my tiredness all gone.
I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.
I got 13" rims.As for the filters I was thinking along the line of DIY.Cone filter with heat shield and cold air intake. If your research say more grounding then I'll do more grounding. As for tyre pressure I don't know who much 210 is but instead of going for "recommended"pressure I go for "optimum" working pressure which is 35 psi all round. Max pressure on the tyre wall is 44psi.So 35 is still within specs.Benefits - feels like powered steering, decreased rolling resistance. Hafei still insists on 95 above. But the manual says anything above ron90 is fine.So for me 92 is still my option.El cheapo. No comments from my engine so far.
BTW,a million thanks for your comments on my ride.As for meetings,I love to but time what I have little of.Career change...........difficult at this moment.
Peace.

Ok,here's my 2 cents worth.
Vacuum gauge........ Measures amt of vacuum.Higher numbers amt to more air intake less fuel usage. No 2 cars are alike. Each have their own "sweet spot".So different numbers for different cars.
water injection............. Adds damp air to the intake."Slowing" the combustion rate. Its like using expensive fuel of more octane levels. Example- Use 92 or lower octane fuel together with water injection equals Shell V power. With proper tuning you'll get back the money you spent on water injection kits and savings on fuel usage.Plus your engine gets steam cleaned daily, runs cooler and probably more benefits.

For the tyres wise, i was pumping 230 front and 240 rear when i was still on my 13" rims.
And i have been on 95 since day one. So if you tell me that 98 or even 92 is better, i wont know it. But i once sat in a commercial 1.1 minz on 92 ... the engine just sounds very very "rough" ..
If your thinking of a open pod + heat shielding... u would probably void ur warranty .. just tahan till 10k servicing and they will change a new air filter for u.. (for a price of course).. then u will see the difference in power and sound
Currently i am thinking of a volt meter since i am having electrical problems and dont really want my battery to just stop charging and die off...

Hi loudness... Nice to see you.
For me this car have been serving me well. I have just two complains about it so far. One being "noisy" in the cabin while driving as engine is just under us. You will feel the effect of fatigue when u drive long hrs (Esp to malaysia). The other is the height limit of the car. You have to make sure that its above 2m or else...Bonkkk... I have mine whole radio base ripped off when i try to enter bra brasah carpark which is 1.9m..Spend S$40 bucks for the replacement..Sighh...
Future Improvement 1) Expand Epower installation to include 2 Corona Charger and Two more Ultrasonic Air charger..Making it into stage two installation. Currently running on 4 air charger and 2 fuel energiser. Target: End Dec 08
2) Change to 14" Rim and Tyre Target: Jun'09
3) Change Battery to 55mah (Current 45mah) with 5 point grounding.
I think that's about all i want to do for the car. In summary, its a good buy and serve us well. Congrats on your buy and welcome to the club.

I was at Cartronics at AMK Autopoint looking for K&N drop in filter. The shop is a stockist for a lot of Japanese brand products too. Nice Jap aunty there, offered some open-pod of various sizes for cheap. They has various sizes and diameters. Was quoted $70 for one. I see... now I know what is water injection. Coincidentally there is someone offering such services at my MSCP : www.itune-vs.com/bbForum/viewtopic.php?t=368Read about the coolant bypass too.. I like it coz its free since it seems simple enough to DIY. I am pumping 34-35psi. The max pressure is 36psi for my tires. When the front is hard, it definitely lightens the steering noticeably. When fully loaded its a b*tch to park as its heavy.. Yeah better watch out the carpark's height before entering. 2M minimum. I just bought a new antenna to replace the stock metal one. It has a pivot point and allows the antenna to be folded down flat. Got it from Autobacs for $9.90. Now can go in 2m carparks without having to stop one side and unscrew the antenna before going in I also just had my filter, spark plugs etc changed. No difference at all. Perhaps mine was not that dirty to begin with. I asked for all my parts back: Oil filter, air filter and spark plugs. Useful as reference to find a substitute. I think now is not a good time to sell a used car. Especially our Hafei which has not much value. Bro Melvin had asked before and decided to keep it instead. Its more economically viable to keep it then to change it at the moment. Lostheaven's antenna is nice. All on the windscreen. No need to worry about pulling out antennas. I saw it at silent for $40+.

Went really "deep" into my car.
Found out a few things. Behind the alternator is what looks like some sort of a surge protector or VS.Need more digging to confirm. Spare tyre is the fifth alloy. Went up Shears bridge and up Mount Faber fully loaded ,down shifted a lot but engine kept on runnin' There is whats called a "canister" with a vacuum line to the manifold.Any idea what it is for? Diagnostics port is labeled OBDII.Could anyone give me info on this? As for fuel consumption and milage.I'm doing several full tanks so this may take a while.
Thats all for now.
P.S. Went to my parent's at Boon lay Ave.Saw 2 Minz parked at carpark near blocks 187,186.Anyone we know??

I have no idea about the diagnostics port though... BTW, do you know which hose is the hose that runs hot coolant to the carburettor? I was thinking of doing a coolant bypass but need help in identifying which hose is it. After your post, I just checked for my fusebox. Mine is already at the front. There is already some grounding in the engine bay suprisingly. Never noticed all these before hehe... Anyways, looks forward to more "probing" from you bro! Keep it up!

Hi.......To tell you the truth,I'm not a mechanic.I'm not trained in any form what so ever.
Curiousity and enthusiasm drove me. Hands on work gave me experience and still experiencing new things. Reading material kept me informed and up to date.Such as carbibles.com.
Most of me experiences comes from servicing my dad's ride and my hijet in the comfort of our HDB carpark.Friends wanting me to put extra muscle on their already muscular engine.Non of the economy ,just performance.I guess everybody's addicted to the fast lane and no one wants to be a slowfolk like me.
And yes,its the black plastic container.About the coolant bypass,I need more probing and getting down and dirty.
Later dudes............
