Hi guys,
My name is Syamil. My family just got a 1.3L hafei minz. I hope to learn more about the car from you guys. Went to workshop this morning and found out that the rear transaxial (at least that is what i think its called) got problem as it is making alot of noise according to the mechanic. Any advise on this? Would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Syamil

Hello there, welcome on board.
Congrats on your new acquisition.
Just a few things about your new ride........ You say its making a lot or noise. What kind of noise? Humming? Tweets and chirps? Grinding noises?
Commonly the axle noise usually associate with the lube in the axle. Its either not enough..........a top up in needed, or Lube is too old or heavily used...................needs fresh lube. The noise usually comes from metal to metal contact from the diffs(differential gears) and also from the bearings.
The simplest solution is of course an oil change. Can be done DIY Gangnam style or go to workshop. Whichever is comfortable to you. If you got the owner's manual that comes with the car, its stated in page 69 and the oil used is 80W90 gear oil.(thick than engine oil)
Once again, thank you for joining our forum. And many more enjoyable and memorable rides for you and your whole family.

Hi! Thanks for the reply and welcome! Basically there were 2 kinds of noises, the metal to metal ringing sound and also a very loud whining sound. The mechanic we went to checked the oil(lube) for the gearbox and it was totally empty so we got it topped up. But the mechanic said the rear transaxial (the shafts that connect the rear wheels together) needs to be changed because the whining sound still exist but not as loud as before the lube top up. The metal to metal ringing sound also not so loud but still exists. Is there any way to get the transaxial part? Or any other recommendations?

Thank you for your reply.
This is the low down on your predicament..............
This is hard for me to say as I want you and your family to experience your ride to the max and not trouble you with problems.
As from what I can see from the problems you posted, wheel bearings and seals have perished and caused the gears to grind into each other and in need of replacements a.s.a.p. to prevent more damage. The seals leaked sometime ago, thus no lube in the axle, the bearings and gears don't get lubricated and damage to the system caused by excessive wear and tear. Even when you have already topped up the lube and there is still noise coming, the damage may be extensive.
My humblest apologies, but what's best right now is to minimise your car usage before anything gets worse.
But worry not, there are solutions.................... If you can afford to wait for a while, please get in touch with our moderator - Bro Fit. Most of us get spares from him including me. After you got the spares, just go to a workshop of your choice to do the repairs.
This second one is a Doozy. It will be fast, that for sure. Go to the Hafei agent. Its a "Cherry" car showroom just next to Kampong Ubi Driving Centre. They'll tell you exactly whats wrong and what replacements and repairs are needed. But their pricing is "cut-throat" or we Malays say - "cekik darah".
My apologies once again for bringing you worrying news. By all means, please contact me for further clarification. Wan 94765857

Hi Wan,
Hahaha, yeah kind of expected the damage is bad. Yup i think it makes sense now and i think that's why the mechanic also said to change the whole thing. I appreciate your advice very much. Will contact u if i need further enquiries if u dun mind. Thanks again!

As of today, we might be losing a new member.
Been in contact recently about his problematic ride. Just about a week after acquisition from a 2nd hand car mart and all hell breaks loose. Apparently the previous owner didn't care much about giving TLC to his/her ride. From the diagnosis from the mechs, that the car is full of leaks from engine gaskets to tranny to the rear axle. Approximate costs around $3000+ to do open heart surgery, leak and seal replacements, full fluid transfers.....the whole lot and maybe more.
Its now more than likely the car will be returned to the carmart.
A sad day............
