Stifle is as close as it gets. But not to the point of interruption of combustion. Its more like slowing down the combustion rate.No combustion rate in any efficient engine is complete(100%).About half or less is complete combustion. The rest of the combustion is converted to heat, sound and smoke.Water injection brings the combustion cycle much nearer to complete.(close to 80%)
Enough of that.
The idea depends on what you want...... more power or a cleaner more efficient engine or BOTH. Its not about emptying a whole pail of water in one go but a slowwwwwwwww flow into the intake.(Atomised water in a form of spray).........the finer the spray the better. Not to worry about rust. The engine area is already hot including the intake thus water can't settle on the metal surface and simply vapourises.
For raw power, its just a case of measured continuous flow.........$$$........eg...Aquamist. Usually done on turbo cars and misfiring engines. But tuned correctly it can benefit N.A. cars (Normally Aspirated)like ours.
I'm more interested in the next one and its free. The free and easy way to a cleaner more fuel efficient engine. Spray and watch carbon deposits fly from your exhaust.Known as Black Death.
