Like to share some cost saving ideas that i have done so far with my minz:
1) Pumping SPC 92 Grade of Petrol. So far using it for the past 1.5 years. The power and mileage is the same as that of 95.
2) Replace worn off tires using 2nd Hand Tires. The rationale as follows: - We are driving performance car that demands performance tires. Furthermore i'm not the speeding type. - The tires i replaced are near brand new tires with over 90% tread. - The cost of replacement is about half or less than that of new tyre.
3) Reduce unneccessary load on the car to reduce weight.
4) Off aircon when driving alone or turn ac power on the aircon off when pick up from stationary or driving onto slope.
5) Always keep wheel properly aligned to prevent unneccesary traction from the road. Reducing fuel consumption and tire wear for front wheel.
Anymore to add?

Here's a few more. Never ever drive like there is no tomorrow. Many drive like that and complained that their fuel efficient cars get less milage. Draft ,coast ,hyper-mile. Simple and free mods for the driver.Save fuel, money, the planet and yourself. Look up the internet. For once, stop downloading music, games and porn.Hehe.............. This is me favourite.Tinkerbell.......I mean tinker with your ride. See and feel what makes it tick.Lots of mysteries and myths which can be revealed. e.g. Did you know the Minz bodyshell design was apparently from PininFirina.Same as Hyundai Matrix and the all mighty Ferrari.Myth? Also my favourite.Finding alternatives. e.g. Stopped using RainX.Swapped it for 1 part dish washing liquid (Mama lemon),10 parts water.Works just as well and gives a wet look on your wind screen. Best of all is to be gentle to your ride.Treat it right and it will treat the same way. Like us it falls sick.Sometimes minor ,sometimes major.Treatment or preventive measures.................bla bla bla.............

I have heard the dishwashing liquid method from daniellica before .. and the lobo was designed by Pininfarina but not sure about MinZ
Cost saving method for me would be dont drive over-rev... have good pedal control and dont on the aircon if ur alone =)

Here's another one. For engine warm up,what we usually do is to idle the engine 5 to 10 minutes before moving off. Another way is to start the engine, idle the engine for around 30 seconds just to get the engine oil moving and start moving off.Slowly at first and gradually increase to normal driving speed. Less fuel is lost because of less idling.
Underdrive pulleys. They say that changing the standard pulleys to smaller diameter and lighter pulleys decreases parasitic drag on the engine thus less burden on the engine. ...................................hmmmm..............??Bling bling? Any thoughts?
Water injection. From the expensive to the almost free stuff. Expensive - high end, pumps ,computer controled. Almost free - simple bottles of water with aquarium lines attached to engine vacuum ports. Please speak your mind.
Merry Christmas........................HO HO HO...............................

Hmmm... I like the idea of the underdrive pulleys... Only question is are there any aftermarket ones that fit? Or are there any specifically made for MinZ in China?

Hi members. My a/c broke down a couple of weeks ago. Haven't got time to get it fixed yet. d**n hot when driving in the day but not too bad at night. One good experience from it is that my fuel economy has gone up pretty good. I used to get about 12 km per litre with the a/c on, Now, I get about 15.5 km per litre which is very good for a China made car. The point here is, off the a/c and your mileage will improve instantly. Happy motoring.

I just discovered and joined this club yesterday 11/3/2010, like to share on fuel saving.
I was using Caltex 95/98 for the past few months and switched to 92 during last 2 fillings, the fc is around 9-11 km/l for both fuel types, but experience less engine power in 92, better in 95, and best in 98.
I also noticed that there is some improvement in FC after filling tyres with nitrogen gas and tyre rotations and front wheel balancing.
Also, I changed to new set of spark plugs and 4 new set of plug cables.

i have been reading this magazine found in the libraries.its called Car Mechanics.i ts all about useful car maintenance information and non of the car reviews or accessories or modded cars. all it does is focus on everyday run of the mill vehicles that we drive daily and the problems and symptoms and how to solve it. i learnt a lot from the mag and i am sure it will give us a better understanding of what it takes to maintain our cars as well as how systems works.

Don't know if anyone tried making your own car air freshener.
Those little tokens that I got at malay weddings - little cups filled with shredded pandan and flowers with a dash of essence of rose. The smell fills up the car very fast. Also keeps the creepy crawllies at bay.And it can last for quite a long while. No wonder lots of taxis got those.
Will try and see how far it goes.Unless some one breaks wind.

Anybody wants me to inject water into your air intake? Its longkang water cheap.Distilled water is best.(no contaminants) All that's needed is a spray bottle.Any capacity also can. Rev to 2000 rpm and start spraying. Acts like steam cleaning. All your sh*t (build up carbon) will escape through your vowels.(exhaust pipe)
Done it on my Serene and some one else.No complaints yet.

How does it work, Bro ?
The air from the air intake is channeled into the combustion chamber, mixes with the petrol and explodes during combustion. So if you spray water into the mix, doesn't it stifle the combustion a bit ?
